Must you vote GOP to be ‘in line with God’s will’?

All my voting life, close to 50 years long, I have believed that my faith should inform my vote. I have also become sadly accustomed over the years to negative campaign tactics. This is the first that I recall seeing members of the faith community deliver negative campaign materials to church doorsteps, and I must say I am appalled.
Every citizen, whether he/she is a member of my faith community or another or none, has a citizenship responsibility to vote. The human reality is that none of us can perfectly discern what is right in voting or in any other matter. To quote Paul, “We see through a glass darkly.” That suggests to me that our two-party system, and the fact that good people seeking to do God’s will belong to both parties, is God’s way of curtailing the hubris that infects all human action.
If so, how could otherwise anonymous “Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock County Ministers for the Kingdom of Christ” distribute nominally non-partisan material that clearly supports the Republican ticket in Virginia’s statewide races? Even more, how can they accompany that material with a cover letter urging each to vote in a manner believed by the voter to be “in line with God’s will” while also implying that a vote for the Democratic ticket would not be?
I have occasionally in the past, and will in this election as well, vote Republican in some local races, but statewide, I will vote the Democratic ticket. I firmly believe Creigh Deeds and his running mates are best positioned to serve all of Virginia, and not just their party’s base, through the next four years.
They will bring pragmatic problem-solving approaches to Virginia’s concerns, and not allow partisan political ideology to dominate in their work. They will respect even those with whom they disagree. I’m convinced that my votes will be in line with what the “Ministers for the Kingdom of Christ” urged, without being the partisan votes they sought.

BTW…There’s nothing close in NJ but the exits.
Yes,waddy, just a little touchy with people who persist in spelling my name incorrectly even after being told.
NOW!!! Please answer rjma’s question. I would love to hear the reply.
Waddy, what attempts have Democrats made to steal an election in recent years and how do they create votes out of thin air?
Hey Roger, a little touchy there eh? I wasn’t referring to you. The chihuahua I was referring is the village idiot who likes to yap and stick his tongue out at me. You leave him alone. He’s MY pet chihuahua. And I know perfectly well how a certain election was won, in spite of the democrats’ all out attempt to steal it. ( Like they always do ). On that thought, if it’s close in NJ today, watch the democrats and their thugs and criminal buddies create the necessary number of votes out of thin air.
P.S. Waddy…Just for future reference…this little chihuahua’s name is rogerS, not roger. Thank you.
Well, waddy, should I have to explain to you, of all people, how that election was “WON”? I thought my remarks were clear enough for anyone to understand. BTW..I thought your comments comcerning abortion were disgusting. And my personal thoughts on this issue have nothing to do with how I asessed(sp) your remarks. And also your chihuahua comment did not go unnoticed.(heals vs. heels)
Responsibility for what Roger? ( Oh drat, that annoying little chihuahua is back yapping and nipping at my heals )
Waddy can’t do that. He is a lackey and a parrot for all things right wing. He would rather gripe about something that NEVER happened rather than comment on things that did happen…like Cheney lying through his teeth to the FBI.
waddy…since Al Gore lost the election this is really a moot point. Also, instead of blaming little aborted babies for his loss (or your salvation) let’s put the responsibility right where it belongs, on the Supreme Court and ultimately on the shoulders of the Bush-Cheney gang.
Not suggesting. I’m flat out saying it. Gore would have been a thousand times worse than Bush. He would have been so bad, be might even have been half as bad as what we have now.
