No need to bash the landfill

In response to S.L. Brown’s letter in the Star-Exponent June 24 (“Community service supervision lacking”), we use the landfill almost daily and have nothing but the highest praise for the work of the county staff and those providing community service.

We have never observed the incidents stated in the Brown letter. Quite to the contrary, we have always been approached immediately upon arrival at the landfill by those assigned to assist the patrons.

We have often said that the landfill operation is the most under-appreciated and under-recognized service provided by Culpeper County. Donna does an outstanding job of supervising the landfill, and she makes sure that it is always clean and mowed.

We hope the readers of the Star-Exponent do not get the negative impression expressed in the Brown letter.

If the landfill is the only thing left to bash in Culpeper then you’re batting a thousand
