People should focus on more serious issues

I wish all those people out there who post reader reaction at StarExponent.com would stop writing about the Compton and Ferris cases and just let such a petty issue in this community go.
Of all the heinous crimes that go on in Culpeper and the surrounding counties, can’t they find something more important to focus on?

For example, how about the poor injustice that the Sherri Warner case has gotten? Doesn’t anyone care about seeing the person or persons pay for the brutal and most inhumane murder of this poor soul? Here was a beautiful mother who would do anything for anybody, and her kindness to a stranger got her killed.

And also, what about the poor children right here under our noses that get abused and molested? People need to put aside the petty happenings and focus on getting the real scum off the streets.

Allen Kelley
Culpeper
Editor’s note: Warner was murdered in her Reva hoome in December 2005. Ricky Javon Gray has been charged with her murder, but a trial has not yet been held.

walker 12:57 PM, walk on. Like with many victims of abuse she is still with her abuser probably suffering abuse. Think about it. And your cavalier attitude does not speak well either for your intelligence or morality. She was 15 not 17 regardless of what you claim and he was a law enforcement, parent figure double her age. Any of them clearly makes it very wrong. Re your banal question, I can only speak for myself. I was 18 (not 32) and she was 16 not 15 (or 8), soon to be my long, well-pursued life-mate, soul-mate wife. You may not perceive a difference, but I surely do. Apparently you have neither daughter nor moral compass. And that’s sad indeed.

Where is the victim in the Compton case? I didn’t see where she said he did anything sexual with her. Besides I believe she was 17 when this incident was to have allegedly taken place NOT 15 years old, like the CSE likes to promote. I guess that sells papers better and gosh knows they do need that.
How many of your parents and grandparents (or even you yourselves)
had sex before they were married and at least one was underage? You might be surprised!

“Only in America” - pedophilia is never “petty.“ Our memories of 9/11 were short-lived and our memories for local crime and errors of those in charge are even shorter. These “petty” things should not be forgotten as that will encourage the behavior to continue.

Thats the problem now, we always want to push “petty” matters aside, and just forget about it. Who is, “those people” anyway. If we can’t trust the people that service us, who can we trust. What both men done is wrong. This is not about BLACK AND WHITE, it about RIGHT! And the right thing to do, is for Compton to get the same treatment that Ferris received. But I guess it goes much deeper than that, when you have money in Culpeper, its a diffent story. But, let me say this, petty or no petty, “those people” are not going to let it go,no matter how “petty “ it seems to you Mr. Kelley. If that was your daughter, granddaughdter, neice, sister, mother, or wife, I bet you would have a different view.

THE importance of the cases is not the crime level, but the level of fairness displayed or appearance of lack of justice by our officials, in my opinion.

Petty? I take it you don’t have a 15-year old daughter.  Yes, the Warner murder was heinous. But Gray will never see the light of day again.

Allen, why do you pour gasoline onto the fire while criticizing others for not letting it go out? In case you don’t realize it, the Compton and Ferris cases were about ‘poor children right here under our noses that get abused and molested’ as well as apparent law enforcement corruption that may have contributed to the ‘injustice’ in the Sherri Warner case. Neither issue is ‘petty’ and in my view we’d have to look long and hard to find anything more important on which to focus.

Petty happenings. How would you feel if Compton had done that to your daughter? The Sherri Warner tragedy is another one of the Sheriff’s office investigations that didn’t serve the justice for the crime that was commited. I thinks about her everytime I pass the house on 29, along with the Reynolds case of the 29 stalker. So, petty NO, scum bags, YES!!!!!!!!!
