Town’s 250th celebration was a smashing success

We felt the 250th anniversary celebration of our town was a smashing success in every way. Regarding Friday’s letter “Not impressed with 250th celebration,” the writer must have missed the exhibits, booths and food in Yowell Park.
It was an excellent representation of Culpeper, past and present, and included a TV tape of the 1959 celebration, as put together by the Library of Congress.
The costumes and other clothes at the ball were magnificent, and the caterer did an outstanding job with the food, which was beautifully presented and delicious. The triple film, shown continuously at the ball, was professionally done and added a special note to the evening.
With such a small committee, it is a wonder that this great production could have taken place at all. The committee consistently asked in the newspaper for additional volunteers, so perhaps the letter writer’s input could have made a difference.
Beth Burns, our tourism director, did a yeoman’s job and is to be commended for her expertise and many hours of labor. A job well done by all!

Mr. and Mrs Green;
It is often those that do nothing that complain the loudest.
Thanks for subtly pointing that out!
