We had a great time at rally in Washington, D.C.

My husband and I went to the “tea party” in Washington, D.C., Sept. 12.
We have never done such a thing and were very impressed with the marchers and their signs and actions. They were polite and true Americans who want to get our country back on track.
We took a bus from Culpeper and met a lady and her husband who were dressed like the early patriots; she had a broom “to sweep the streets.” Many participants carried “Don’t Tread on Me” flags.
People came from all over the country to express their feelings over what is happening with our government. On our bus was a man from Illinois who came here to see what was happening. In church on Sunday, I met a woman who had flown in from South Carolina to attend the march with friends.
We joined the march at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The street was filled from one side to the other with marchers who not only bore signs but sang patriotic sons and shouted “Can you hear us now?”
Our sign read: “We the People, Not We the Politicians, Are in Charge.” We must make sure our congressional representatives uphold their oath of office as well as read the bills before they are passed and not fill them with earmarks.
We wish to thank the Culpeper organizers of the Tea Party Express; Charles Duncan was the leader of our bus.
We urge all readers to contact their congressional representatives and let them know how they feel about not only the health care bill but other bills and, especially, some of these organizations that our president has surrounded himself with.

For Waddy and Buddy, I said: “Maybe that’s why $3 trillion will go out for Iraq and Afghanistan that could have been used to fortify our borders and help with deficit.“
That is the governments own estimation of what will be the approximate amount of money we will have spent, and that’s assuming that we don’t occupy indefinitely.
So that mean Medicare and a public option could have been paid for for the next decade, easily. And like already stated, the taxes that Bush gave away already could have covered it as well. But for some reason, people just want to have a revolution and not face the truth.
eyesis, of course you love it! You are one of the leading contributors to inaccurate info and questions based on truths that are evident to no one but you.
Eyesis- I think you are mistaken when you say that you thought that Obama said he would pull out of Afg. in a year. I also do not recall reading about any “refusal” to send more troops. But clearly there is little public support for that.
I love it when people exaggerate numbers and throw inane insults. Shows the scope of their intelligence. Be specific when throwing data. Where did these numbers come from? Was it an independent source? We didn’t have three trillion in the budget. You must be confusing this with the so-called healthcare budget. What is the POTUS doing with Afghanistan?? McChrystal is getting ready to resign because Obama said this was important, but refuses to fortify the Gen’s troops. I thought Obama said in his campaign that he wanted to pull out of there within a year.
I am not the Waddy from Spotsylvania. However, I am something of a student of the Civil War and I am drawn to battlefields. I have spent days walking the Spotsylvania battlefield and contemplating what happened there. After all these years of being exposed to it, the ignorance and lying of the left still leaves me breathless. We have NOT spent 3 trillion in Irag. The actual number is closer to 800 Billion. An enourmous amount, but not 3 trillion. I have givin up trying to explain to liberals that it is Congress—not the president—that runs up deficits. They simply are not capable of grasping anything even that simple. They are also not capable of recognizing that in spite of the recession in 2000 and 911, we had 6 years of growth and prosperity until we gave Congress to the democrats in 2006. No sense telling them. They will continue to lie. It’s all they can do.
My first involvement in politics was when I worked hard for JFK as a volunteer. Met the sisters. Had a great time. Too bad those days are over…I am impressed, though with how involved our young people (22-28) are in todays political activities. The ones I know are interested and want to work for what they believe in. However, the ones I know are mostly Republicans so we do have some lively discussions, and no one gets angry and there is no name calling, unlike some of these forums. Maybe we could learn something from them.
Glad you had a good time. Sad to see that this is the first time in your life you’ve ever been motivated to do anything like this! Maybe that’s why our country was asleep while the top 1% rich of our country got to keep $1.5 trillion in taxes we could have used on the deficit Bush ran up. Maybe that’s why $3 trillion will go out for Iraq and Afghanistan that could have been used to fortify our borders and help with deficit.
Could it be because people like you, just never thought it important enough before to ever get up and actually do something about it?
I’ve been involved in politics since before I could vote. My first time was marching a donkey around the white house when Nixon was in it…telling him with a sign on each side that he was acting like one.
I was signed up to go to this 9/12 march with Tea Partiers, with my large family and all, being against the bailouts Bush did. But when I kept watching Glen Beck and his deteriorating lack of truth condition, we changed our minds. That’s probably why they thought over a million came, when only 60,000 did. Over a million probably signed up, but didn’t all come.
I saw a lot of overweight, white people with bizarre messages mostly about government spending …where were you when the last administration spend 3 trillion on a war?
I did not see any of you protesting and when we were being wiretapped …where were you…that was really unconstitutional. Are you calling President Obama a Nazi, a Commie….may I remind you that if Pres. Obama were those hateful things, you would all be shipped off to a labor or concentration camp. What kind of FREEDOM are you talking about??
It is very sad how there is such joy in dividing this country. I think the terrorists must be delighted with the Tea Parties.
It is too bad that we are fighting along party lines when we have a lot of things that need to be done.
Waddy. You the Thomas Waddy, on the Spotsylvania BOS?
Actually they left a big mess, lots of teabags, especially. ACORN members came after to clean it up
It should be noted that speaking in absolutes usually means you are wrong, huh waddy?
