Of integrity, honor in the sheriff’s race
Published: September 26, 2007
I have been following the sheriff's race for a while, and the ongoing theme seems to be Scott Jenkins' integrity and honor.
How he stood up for what he believed was a crime and how he would do it again.
Well, that last part is what bothers me. He would do it again.
According to Mr. Jenkins, it is a felony and corruption to purchase a birthday cake for a Sheriff's Office employee. Scott Jenkins wanted the sheriff prosecuted and to serve time in jail for this and other heinous acts - but at the same time it is not a a problem to display a person's name, date of birth and Social Security number on the Internet and go door to door giving out this same information.
If he can build a criminal case, and ask for jail time because a generator belonging to the Sheriff's Office was used to blow up a child's moonbounce at a worthy organizion's event, what can he and his deputies do to the rest of us-
After having the opportunity to meet Jim Branch and dicuss the issues, I left the meeting feeling good, not only that Jim Branch is an honest person but that he will lead the Sheriff's Office with true integrity and pride.
During our entire meeting, Mr. Branch never mentioned Scott Jenkins in a negative way, but only what Mr. Branch would do as sheriff of this county. Can Mr. Jenkins say the same-
The people of Culpeper deserve better. Come Nov. 6, Jim Branch has my vote, and I encourage my neigbors here in the Elkwood area to vote the same.
