OUR VIEW: Arts, music students deserve to be praised
Published: June 5, 2009
With the school year winding down, it’s time to recognize everyone in the theater, drama and arts programs in Culpeper County for their hard work.
Eastern View’s spring play “See How They Run,” finishes its run today at 3 p.m. at EVHS. The first-year program deserves praise for putting together a talented performance.
Culpeper County High School’s theater department also deserves kudos for it’s continued excellence, led by drama teacher Maggie Lawrence who always has an eye for talent.
Talent doesn’t just end on the stage in Culpeper County as the Middle School String Orchestra also brought the gift of music to the community this week. We applaud the hard work the musicians put in to put together a stirring performance.
The middle school bands have also been busy as Culpeper Middle School brought home a bevy of superior ratings at a recent performance at Kings Dominion. Floyd T. Binns also received accolades at the Kings Dominion Band, Orchestra and Jazz Festival recently.
Congratulations to all the performers for putting on quality shows all school year long, and we hope to continue to see them excel on stages next year!

We also want to congratulate the Eastern View Battle of the Bands show held last Friday for raising $500 for the ALS Foundation.
Organizer Cole Masaitis did an excellent job of putting together a talented lineup of bands. We congratulate the winners, Numb Incision of Orange, and we hope that someone steps up and holds the concert again next year.

Despite the rainy conditions, the crowds still turned out for CulpeperFest Thursday. The event is always an excellent opportunity to get out and meet new people in our community and to sample the local food fare offered. The Culpeper Chamber of Commerce and their partners always put on a good time, and it’s an excellent example of Culpeper’s community spirit.
