» Congratulations go out to the organizers of several local events – all of which help make Culpeper the special place it is.

Culpeper’s foundation is its rich agricultural history. Once a year the The Harvest Days Farm Tour provides residents with a free look at how some folks are still making their livelihood off the land.

From wineries to llama farms, area residents were treated to behind-the-scenes lessons describing what it takes to bring local products to market.

Adults and children alike enjoyed petting zoos, hay rides and countless other demonstrations. The tour was well attended, and many commented on the fact that they never knew there were so many operating farms still in our county — some 600, according to the Chamber of Commerce.

Outstanding events like this remind us of our roots and show what the future of farms may be.

AIRFEST: This weekend’s AirFest is another example of hard work by organizers, providing the public with an inside look at what goes on right here in our backyard.

We have countless aviation enthusiasts in our area, and they will show off for the public Saturday at Culpeper Regional Airport. When you throw in appearances like the Harrier jet owned by Art Nalls, plane rides for kids and other goodies, you have something really special.

More than 5,000 people are expected, so come early and enjoy everything the local aviation scene has to offer.

A TASTY BATTLE: When rain washed away Culpeper Renaissance’s final Third Thursday concert event — which was to be the battle of the bands — a lot of folks were disappointed.
So CRI combined the event with its annual Taste of Culpeper shindig this Sunday.

What a great idea.

Now people can come out Sunday and see the best in Culpeper’s music scene and experience some of Culpeper’s finest food and drink, all at the same place.
