OUR VIEW: We endorse John McCain for president

» SUMMARY: The Republican senator from Arizona is the best choice to lead our country.
Few times in recent history have seen our nation so energized over a presidential campaign. Locally and across the land, voter registration numbers have swelled. Historically disenfranchised groups of Americans enjoy a newfound optimism. A black man could be president. A woman could be vice president.
Indeed, a new era has dawned. Soon, the question will be answered: Who should lead us into this new era?
Democrat Barack Obama connects to wide segments of the population with an appeal unlike anything the United States has ever known. He is an eloquent speaker and an energetic leader who exudes optimism. The majority of polls predict he will be voted into office.
In spite of our respect for Obama’s personal traits and charisma, we can’t get beyond the core of his platform. His repackaged liberalism would only push America down a more treacherous path — higher taxes on businesses, socialized medicine, redistribution of wealth, a general belief that government (not the private sector) is the answer. Closer to home, Obama’s views on moral issues like abortion and gun control don’t reflect the leanings of most Culpeper voters.
Republican John McCain, in many respects, is the exact opposite of his opponent. What McCain lacks in personality and political sex appeal he makes up for in solid fundamental values, war-time leadership and decades of high-level experience.
In this time of global conflict, McCain represents the best choice to lead our armed forces, confront terrorism and stand up to rogue regimes. On domestic issues like energy, education and the economy, he offers a pragmatic vision grounded in conservative principles. And even though we’d like to see the word “maverick” dropped from the English language, it’s encouraging that McCain has just enough of a rebellious streak to promote a sense of bipartisanship and occasionally buck party lines.
Come Nov. 4, Americans will weigh all of these factors, vote for a president and usher in a new era — hopefully a brighter one. This newspaper’s editorial board believes John McCain is the right man for the job.

woman for obama 8:17 pm , McCain is old and Obama is young. I can’t fight advanced thinking like that. I’m switching my vote.
I know y’all love America or else you would not be pouring yourselves into this election. Thank you for doing that! Our nation is in great danger and we all need to identify and battle the real enemy: The international banking cartel that suckered us into all of this debt, ruined the value of our dollar, and arranged this phony election. They have already picked the winner long ago: Zigniew Brzezinski.
(Mr. Marxism himself.) His son, Mark is foreign policy adviser to Obama, and his son, Ian is foreign policy adviser to McCain. That is correct. Lifelong Marxist Zbigniew Brzezinski – David Rockefeller’s Prime Minister - controls both sides of the forthcoming charade through his sons. Here is a good place for patriots to direct thier energy: www.endthefed.us
Endorse a candidate who looks very tired and worn, like he might not make it to election day. And who has, as his running mate someone totally unsuited to the job, totally unprofessional *wink*, doesn’t understand how the government works. *wink*, dresses like a tart. Well, you go and enjoy your endorsment. I personally believe that intelligence rules, and a fresh, youthful, intellegent face on the scene can’t be any worse than what we’ve been enduring for 8 years. Your view is to be expected in this backwater, and it is sad.
It is the 21st century people. Grow up.
Do you dislike that he said parents had to take responsibility for their kids? Truth hurts, don’t it?
Our great nation is in serious trouble and neither of these candidates will be any real help! Our “How I See It” article (yet to appear) explains:
How is it possible to endure another election season without visiting issues vital to the survival of our great nation? We’re talking about a sound strategy for our tanking economy, wide-
open borders, skyrocketing energy costs, and a sovereignty-destroying North American Union for starters. How can these candidates be promising more federal spending on social programs (health care, etc.) and war, while our government sits on the verge of bankruptcy? Balancing our federal budget used to be debated!
Maybe we should “follow the money”. That usually works. The top ten list of PAC contributors to the two major
presidential campaigns is revealing. Hundreds of thousands of dollars contributed by investment banks. Most revealing is the list of those who contributed to both campaigns :
Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Citigroup Inc, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase & Co., etc.
How about some advice from our founding fathers?
“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs”. Thomas Jefferson letter to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin (1802).
Are we there yet? One could easily argue that both candidates are bought-and-paid-for. Really, how much
evidence do we need? Regardless of which party is in power, the decline of our nation seems unstoppable!
We feel like we are living in a cartoon, but we stopped laughing a long time ago! Maybe the banksters are the
ones laughing while most voters debate issues secondary to the survival of our nation in a phony left-right paradigm. Have the major parties become two wings
of the same bird of prey? Now guess who’s for dinner!
A vote for one of the Republicrat puppet candidates may be the truly wasted vote. The Constitution Party
candidate is found under Independent Green this year.
We’ve grown very weary of the excuses of ineptitude that have been made for politicians that don’t represent
their constituents. Stupid politicians don’t engineer precision theft! The looting of our nation that is taking place right now because of the “bailout” is beyond comprehension! We agree with our Culpeper neighbor, John Callahan, who recently wrote:
“Throw them all out now!“
Too much venom? Let’s consider our children in this situation then. What kind of stewards are we if we let our republic slip away before they have a chance to defend it? For the sake of our children, the battle
to preserve everything our founding fathers fought for must go way beyond political party loyalty.
Our point is that our elected government could be making many positive steps to free up Americans to
take our lumps for letting this happen. Then, get about the hard work in the free market needed to rebuild our great nation.
The real power lies in the US Congress. Without their approval the US President is powerless. (At least it used to work that way when our public servants took their oath to the Constitution seriously.)
We say it is time to RestoreTheRepublic.com and begin a CampaignForLiberty.com !
AMEN! John McCain and Sarah Palin are who we need in the White House!
The Democrats have been the majority in Congress for the last two years and what have they done for our country other than NOTHING. The Congress has tied the hands of our President so that he can’t do what is needed. These far left Democratic liberals need to go. Obama has had only 143 working days as a Senator-not even as long as John McCain was held prisoner. We don’t need his inexperience in the White House. Besides, his spread the wealth idea is crazy and smells of Marxism. I AM Joe the Plumber and I don’t want to hand over what I make to help those who don’t want to even bother to work. (For you far lefters my real name is not actually Joe) The amount changes with Obama and Biden. First it was anyone making over $250,000 would be taxed, then it was $200,000 and then Biden said anyone making over $150,000 would be taxed. How can we possibly have someone who keeps changing their word be our President? Not to mention his questionable affiliations. Let’s vote John McCain as our next President of the United States! Unlike Michelle Obama, I am PROUD, and have always been, of my country!
Amen, very well stated! Obama would be a disaster for our damaged economy. Franks, Dodd and Pelosi have done enough being in charge the past two years to ruin our economy, that’s why they have the LOWEST approval rating in history. What we need is someone who will not let them run amuck and take us deeper in debt. VOTE McCAIN / PALIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
