Ultimately, residents will make the call on a regional jail

I agree with Town Councilman Tom Huggard, but it is the Board of Supervisors that is responsible for spending money for county or regional jails ("Be careful what you wish for," May 4).
So let's not bring up the jail issue in the sheriff's race. 

The Sheriff's Office would have input as to what is needed for security and which bells and whistles to have.

It is not the decision of the Sheriff's Office, nor in his budget, where or what is to be built.

If there is going to be a regional or county jail, the Board of Supervisors will propose it.

Ultimately, however, we as residents of Culpeper County will pay for it.
