HOW I SEE IT: Economic development is anything but
The solution to our problem is economic development.
OUR VIEW: Webb, Warner easing into first terms in U.S. Senate
» With election time right around the corner, let’s look back at the state’s rookie senators: Democrats Jim Webb and Mark Warner.
Chase for supervisor
Bill Chase has been on the BOS for almost 28 years and has always been up front with his constituents and the residents of Culpeper County.

HOW I SEE IT: Both political parties have failed us
Both the Republican and Democratic parties have miserably failed the American citizens in the past 20 years.
Key to traffic roundabout is linkage to proposed inner loop road
Round and round we go, where it stops no one knows.
Must you vote GOP to be ‘in line with God’s will’?
This is the first that I recall seeing members of the faith community deliver negative campaign materials to church doorsteps, and I must say I am appalled.
Thanks from St. Luke’s
On behalf of St. Luke’s Lutheran School, I want to thank the Culpeper community for the support, financial or otherwise, you extended to us this past summer when our future was placed in doubt.
Distasteful missive
Regarding Monica Chernin’s letter Sunday, “Disappearing act downtown after Halloween”
PERSPECTIVE: This phony ‘war hero’ got what he deserved
» Sgt. David Budwah conned his way into a lifestyle set apart only for those who have earned it on the field of valor.

Cuccinelli would only continue his crusade
Voters concerned about the climate, education, women’s health issues, working conditions and wages (to name a few) should be wary of supporting Mr. Cuccinelli.

OUR VIEW: Going around in circles on idea of traffic roundabout
» When it comes to keeping cars flowing along North Main Street’s pie-shaped junction at Route 229, the town is reversing course.
What I like about Bill Chase ...
Bill Chase will fight for your property rights. He will respond when you call him.

Park in town lots for downtown neighborhood trick-or-treating
It’s that time of year again: Time to decorate the house with cobwebs and creatures, time to invest a small fortune to keep the candy kitty full, and time for me to write my annual admonishment of the Halloween night routine in Culpeper.
Bring on the traffic circle
I don’t think the folks in Culpeper are dumb. I think we can handle a traffic circle! Go VDOT!
HOW I SEE IT: Why my platform targets the Patriot Act
Regarding my stance on the Patriot Act, which was written about in the Star-Exponent’s House District 30 endorsement Friday, there are a few things I’d like to point out to the voters that are extremely important.
Use town tax money on more worthy initiatives
I must agree that at this time of financial difficulty for our country, county and town, our town should not help fund the State Theatre.

OUR VIEW: Even in retirement, Dr. Chiles an asset to CRH
Dr. Morton P. Chiles III may be retired, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still serving Culpeper, a place he’s made home for more than 30 years.

A better idea for how to invest $1.5M
In review of the town budget, I saw where SAFE and CCDC will receive $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. When I saw the proposed allotment for the State Theatre, I thought it was some kind of error. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
My plan to cap spending on presidential, congressional elections
The cost involved in seeking elective office at the congressional and presidential levels has risen to the point where it is unrealistic for most worthy citizens in this country to aspire for high public office.
HOW I SEE IT: State Theatre bailout? No thanks.
Our elected town officials want to invest $1.5 million of taxpayer money to renovate the State Theatre. Our town government needs a wakeup call to remind them that they were elected to represent all of the residents of Culpeper.

» Bob McDonnell’s candidacy continues its march to Richmond, while Creigh Deeds’ indecision and attacks do little good.
