Creigh Deeds, Democratic candidate for governor, is set to visit Brandy Station this evening for a reception and sponsors dinner.

Tonight’s visit will be his third to the area since launching his campaign this spring.

Deeds last visited Culpeper July 4.

The reception and sponsors dinner, to be held in a private residence, are invitation-only events.

Deeds will face the state’s Republican nominee for governor, Bob McDonnell, at the polls in November.

Four years ago, McDonnell defeated Deeds by a few hundred votes to claim the state’s attorney general’s seat.

In 1991, Deeds, 51, was elected to the House of Delegates.

He won re-election five times before leaving the House for the Senate.

Deeds represents the state’s 25th District, an area that includes the city of Charlottesville and stretches to the West Virginia border.
