Culpeper American tops East Orange

LOCUST GROVE — Culpeper American got a huge day out of the top of its order and advanced to the double-elimination round of the District 14 tournament after a 13-0 rout of East Orange Friday.
Culpeper’s first four hitters finished 9-for-12 with nine RBIs and seven runs scored.
In the second inning, right fielder Kevin Devin broke the game open with a three-run double. For the game, he went 2-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs. Colin Glenny went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, while Ray Tricarico finished 3-for-4 with three singles and David Laird went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Getting the start and earning the win for Culpeper American was Coleby Roman, who struck out seven in three innings and improved his record to 2-0 in tournament action. Tricarico pitched the final two innings, striking out three.
Culpeper American will be in action again today as its travels to Monticello to face McIntire at 12:30 p.m.
