Post 330 claims first place in the division after beating Manassas

The Culpeper American Legion baseball team traveled to Brentsville High School Friday and beat Manassas Post 290 8-2 to take over first place in the District 16 Eastern Division.
“It’s great to be in first place in our division,” Post 330 manager Jeff Crane said. “But now we become the team everybody wants to beat, so now we have to play our best baseball every game.”
Matt Ward got the start for Post 330 (7-4) and pitched seven innings, striking out five while giving up one run and seven hits. Adrian Updike-Bobbitt relieved Ward in the eighth and struck out two and gave up two hits to eanr the save.
Courtland’s Matt Lenox hit his first ever home run and went 2-for-4 from the plate with one RBI. Nolan Jenkins finished the game 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, while Joey Powell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Josh Gardiner finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Updike-Bobbitt went 1-for-4 with an RBI of his own.
Post 330 will be in action again Monday when they travel to Orange at 7 p.m. for a game against Post 156.
