Former Culpeper County High School cross-country runner Devin Cornwall put the stamp on an impressive career at Virginia Tech with a 13th-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s championships Saturday.

The senior finished the 8K in 23:42 and earned All-ACC honors for the second straight year.

Cornwall finished 15th to help the Hokies finish fourth at the Chili Pepper Festival Oct. 17 and third in the Dual in the Elk to lead the men’s team to a first-place finish.

After being crowned the Cedar Run District Northwest Regional champion his senior year at Culpeper, Cornwall finished 27th at the ACC championships his first year at Va. Tech and was named ACC freshman of the year.

Cornwall compiled a pair of top-10 finishes his sophomore year, and finished third at the ACC championships as a junior. He was consistently the first Hokie to cross the finish line his junior year and capped that season by finishing 26th out of 212 runners at the NCAA East Regional with a time of 31:33.

He also took fifth out of 75 runners at the Virginia Tech Invitational, won the Highland Duel and was named to the All-ACC Academic team as a junior.

Cornwall and the Hokies will be in action again Friday for the Hokie Open Race before moving on to the NCAA Southeast Region Championships Nov. 14.
