Culpeper American falls to Louisa in District 14 softball title game

The Culpeper American all-star softball team traveled to Louisa Tuesday for the District 14 championship game but came up short, losing 11-1.

Ashley Sain got the start from the pitching mound and put in a complete game, striking out two and holding Louisa to 10 fewer hits than its previous tournament low.

Amy Wayland knocked in Kayla Ketchum for Culpeper’s lone run while Chelsey Settle made a nice catch in the outfield.

On Monday, American topped Culpeper National 19-7 to earn a trip to the title game.

Wayland got the start and pitched a complete game, striking out 16. She also racked up two base hits.

Caitlin Walker, Brooke Scott and Lindsey Shuck also had two base hits.
