Gar-Field knocks off C.D. Hylton

Gar-Field 20, C.D. Hylton 7
It had been 10 years and 15 games since the Gar-Field Indians could smile after a game against rival Hylton, and Gar-Field's 20-7 win on Friday night allowed them to do just that.
The curse had been lifted.
But more than that, it was validation for the Indians (4-2, 1-0 Cardinal District) that they are moving in the right direction.
The Indians came out in a running frame of mind. It helped they forced a turnover on Hylton's first series, taking possession at the Bulldogs' 10 and cashing in with a 3-yard run by Bryce Miller.
On his next carry, after the Gar-Field defense held Hylton (2-4, 0-1) to a fruitless four-play drive, Miller took advantage of an open secondary on a 73-yard scamper.
Staked to a 10-point lead at halftime, the Indians' defense clamped down in the second half.
Though only one Hylton drive resulted in points in the first half, the Bulldogs had been able to move the ball consistently before their drives fizzled.
In the second half, Gar-Field limited the Bulldogs to just 78 yards and added a second field goal to push the lead to 13.
Hylton played the entire second half without starting quarterback Joel Himan, who injured his ankle late in the second half.
Coach Lou Sorrentino said Himan was taken to the hospital; he didn't know exactly what the injury was, but believes it could be some time before Himan returns.
Orange 45, William Monroe 7
The Hornets scored early and often on their way to an easy win over William Monroe.
Dominic Walker started the scoring with a 41-yard touchdown late in the first quarter.
Orange scored four more times before the break to take a 33-0 lead at intermission.
Orange quarterback Quintin Hunter ran for an 80-yard score and threw a 45-yard touchdown to Carnell Perkins.
William Monroe didn't have an answer for Orange. The Hornets offense scored through the air and on the ground. Chris Rollins added a 50-yard punt return touchdown and Lamar Gordon returned an interception 63 yards for a score.
William Monroe managed just 121 yards of total offense.
