For the second straight season in Division I Old Dominion Soccer League action, the U13 girls Culpeper Comets travel team finished undefeated and earned first place honors.

The Comets have not lost a game in three full seasons of league play over the last 18 months. On the way to a 6-0-2 record this spring against teams from Northern Va., Maryland and West Virginia, the squad allowed a miniscule two goals in eight games.

Goalie Quinn-Lynn Bates led a formidable defense anchored by Michaela Saunders, Gaby Stubbe, Katlyn Martin, and Becky Gillispie.

Leading the offensive charge for the Comets was Anna Stackhouse and Alexis Knipfer with five goals a piece and Courtney Dean with four. Midfielders Elizabeth LaRosa, Hannah Galloway, and Katie Lutero each chipped in goals this season as well.

Sydney Angel, Rachel Brakowiecki, and Yenifer Castro also provided excellent support on both sides of the ball during the campaign.

The Comets of the Culpeper Travel Soccer Club are one of 10 teams in the county, playing fall and spring seasons in age groups from U11 to U18 for both boys and girls divisions.
