Little League action continues to heat up Sunday

9-10 softball

Trailing 8-1 in the third inning, Culpeper rallied. Tiara Jackson led the way, scoring six runs. Shania Yates added 5 runs.
Pitcher Claire Mocarski struck out nine.
11-12 softball
Culpeper American 2,
East Orange 0
The winning run came after Chelsea Colvin reached first on a bunt, stole second, and was driven in by Colby Mocarski. Kara Cuccherini added to the lead by scoring the second run after hitting a double and steeling third and then home. A strong defensive effort was put forth by the Culpeper team with MiAisha Jackson catching three fly balls, a critical catch in deep left field by Brianne Pollard, and strong support at second by Mocarski on various plays.
Cuccherini pitched 6 innings giving up only4 hits with no walks and 9 strike outs.
9-10 baseball

Culpeper National 4
Nelson County outlasted Culpeper in baseball action at Gordonsville Sunday.
Catcher Kevin Devine finished 2 for 2 with a run scored for Culpeper. Jheyson Martinez added three hits and two runs.
Luther Gibbs, Wyatt Jarrells and Bret Schurina pitched for Culpeper, which falls to 0-1 in pool play.
Culpeper hosts Gordonsville Tuesday at Canavan. That game starts at 6 p.m.
