Dont’ panic, Stella’s not the mom

Die-hard fans of How I Met Your Mother have been lighting up message boards crying foul since the revelation that Ted met Stella on a street corner last week.

Dude, I run a lot of people on the street corner. I’ve married none of them. And apparently, Ted is the same way. In tonight’s episode we find out simply that Ted ran into Stella and her man Tony, exchanged some pleasantries and moved on. Or tried to move on. Nothing in Ted’s life is simple, is it? Instead Tony tried to repay him, since Tony feels horrible that he stole Stella from Ted. This results in a couple of opportunities for Ted, the most hilarious being the possibility he may have to build a “laundry room” for a “murder house.“ Marshall screaming “it’s a murder house” in a high-pitch voice was classic. In the end, Ted has a heavy soul-searching moment and wishes he had what Tony and Stella have. Stella assures him his true love is coming, but after four seasons, it sure seems like she’s taking her sweet old time about it.

Other HIMYM thoughts:
Barney’s part this week was kind of weak. Though his panic about being in jail was awesome.
Lily (a real-life pregnant Alyson Hannigan) finally returned after missing most of the past three episodes. She still looks pregnant, but that’s not a bad thing. It would have been funnier if they explained Lilly getting larger by giving her a new nacho addiction. Imagine that intervention.
Next week is the season finale, and each year someone has hooked up. This year? It’s Barney and Robin, it has to be. And I’m not thrilled about it. The Barnacle needs to remain single.
