Idol ‘09: Allison’s starting to happen
Idol Wednesday night was mostly boring, watched on fast forward or with the volume turned way down. This is where we really see who has any talent. As far as my ears could tell, a contestant named Allison was the only one who stood out last night. Only 16, this girl has some soul. Real soul. James Brown soul. And she dared to sing Heart, but did the group great justice. The competition just started right now, one of the judges said after her performance, and I agree Allison is one to watch, Simon says.
Some other observations from Wednesday’s Idol:
Kai is a good singer but he chose a song that makes you yawn. But I like him. He takes care of his mother.
Bye bye Nick Norman Gentle. Your act is horrific comedy. Again, I have to agree with Simon.
Simon’s wadrobe has gone down hill this season, if that’s possible.
Paula, as usual, is trying too hard to make the sucky singers feel better about their songs. It’s awkward to watch.
Cara has hot legs, but unfortunately her singing didn’t do it for me dawg.
Matt Girard butchered Coldplay, but I still think he is one of the better singers. Ray Charles was a better choice for him.
And finally, a question: are you relevant and modern if you have an armful of tatooes? That’s what the judges thought of one such contestant last night. What if you only have one arm tatoo? Are you still relevant and modern? But what if you can’t sing?
I’ll be watching
