Idol thoughts
American Idol “officially” kicked off in my mind with the first group of 12 last night. I disagree with Randy that this is a talent filled group — only Danny Gokey impressed me. He has a shot, especially with being the sentimental favorite.
A few quick hit thoughts on some of the others:
Stephen Fowler: He shouldn’t be here in the first place. Dude stopped playing during his audition, he shouldn’t be let through. Yet he is, and he’s terrible. Goodbye.
Tatianna del Toro: The girl I love to hate. She has some chops, but her drama is over the top. Or so I thought. She’s boring without all the tears and weeping. Bring it back tonight Tatianna, we’re ready for some hysterics.
Jackie Tohn: Wow, tight pants. I don’t know if she sang well. That’s all I could focus on.
Michael Sarver: Great guy, bad song choice.
Stevie Wright: Maybe you are 80, stay away from upbeat songs.
Other than that, Idol didn’t impress me. The Mentalist on the other hand continues to shine. I gave up the second hour of Idol (besides flipping back for a few of my favorites) to watch Patrick Jane’s latest adventure. Though my wife and I had the killer figured out early on, the show keeps you guessing and is doing a good job of building up Jane and his fellow agents. But really, how many violent murders can California have in six months?
