Now that’s great TV, Mr. President

President Obama’s speech last night put me in a hopeful mood. And I especially liked how he recognized his lady from the start. That man has his priorities straight.
Just that the fact that he is so articulate and intelligent a leader should give us all hope.
“Hope is found in unlikely places,“ the president told America and, “I speak to you not just as president, but a father.“
Example after example after example he provided showing how his recently approved stimulus package will benefit real Americans, beginning with a tax cut April 1.
Hmmm. We’ll see.
“It’s not about helping banks. It’s about helping people.“
The president said it two times.
We’ll see. To the skeptics, like me, then, Obama assured there would be oversight of how each dime of the stimulus money is spent by mayors and governors across the nation.
With Joe Biden presiding, “Cause noboby messes with Joe.“
Energy, healthcare and education…these are my president’s priorities for America. He said so last night and it sounds right. Finally, a president who listens to the people. A president who is not afraid to chastise the CEOs and fat cats and their private jet flying amid some very troubling times. As the world’s eyes remained fixed on America and its leader, a new confidence emerges from within. A confidence born of great leadership.
Much of what the president said last night is easily applied to the day-to-day.
“We cannot shun the negoiating table.“
“Education begins at home.“
“Strengthen old alliances. Forge new ones.“
“Root out the waste.“
“Pull together and take responsibility for our furture once more.“
And how about this line, “I believe the nation that invented the automobile cannot walk away from it.“
Here’s to innovation and the optimism America is known for. And here’s to a high-def president bringing spark back to Tuesday night TV.
