A Liberty University professor was charged with a sex-related crime and is no longer teaching at the University, authorities said Saturday.
According to Lynchburg General District Court documents, Joshua Young Moon was charged Thursday with object sexual penetration by force.
School spokesperson Johnnie Moore confirmed that Moon had been a professor at Liberty, but was terminated in relation to that charge.
"A Liberty University professor was accused of a crime and he was terminated," said Moore, adding that because of the sensitive issue, no more information was being released.
Lynchburg police said the Liberty University Police Department is conducting the investigation, but a police spokesperson referred questions back to Moore.
Moon is listed on Liberty's Web site as an assistant professor of mathematics.
Moon is also listed as a supervisor for International Christian Fellowship, a campus club.
His arraignment is scheduled for May 1.
