Wounded Orange County Sheriff’s Office investigator Bob Canosa remained in serious condition Sunday morning at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, according to hospital spokesman David Foreman.
His wife, Brenda Canosa, 49, is accused of shooting him several times early Friday morning. She was taken into police custody at her home in the Rochelle area of Madison County around 9:45 p.m. Friday and is being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange.
Police say Bob Canosa, 55, was shot in a residence in the 13000 block of Marquis Lane in Orange County shortly after 6 a.m.
Canosa, a veteran law enforcement officer and former military man, worked for the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office under former Culpeper Sheriff H. Lee Hart before taking a job in Orange in 2007.
Brenda Canosa faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
No bond or court information was available on the Virginia Judicial System’s Web site Sunday.
The Virginia State Police is handling this investigation. Contacted Sunday afternoon, VSP spokesman Sgt. Les Tyler had nothing else to add about Friday’s incident.
