Virginia to get $102M for water, sewage programs

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia will receive about $102 million from the recently approved federal stimulus legislation for improved sewage treatment plants, water quality and drinking water systems.

A state-by-state list released by the Environmental Protection Agency shows that Virginia will receive $20.8 million for drinking water infrastructure improvements. The state also will receive $81 million will for wastewater treatment, pollution control from runoff at sites such as parking lots and construction,
and watershed and estuary management.

The stimulus package includes a total $6 billion for such programs.
