The Culpeper man charged in Friday’s wreck on Homeland Road was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Virginia State Police.

Timothy O’Roark was charged with DUI after his Ford Ranger sideswiped Miranda Settle’s Dodge Neon around 6:15 p.m. in northwestern Culpeper County, causing her vehicle to go over an embankment and land in a cattle watering hole.

Settle, 21, was transported to Fauquier Hospital for her injuries and released.

According to the report, O’Roark’s blood alcohol level was .10. The legal limit is .08 in Virginia.

Driving without a front tire, O’Roark’s truck continued about a quarter of a mile before stopping at Creek Crossing Road.

A witness driving behind Settle said O’Roark’s truck crossed the yellow line and struck her Neon, also nearly hitting his vehicle.
