Former Attorney General Bob McDonnell will be the fourth Virginia gubernatorial candidate to stump at a Culpeper coffeehouse on Wednesday.
However, he’s the only Republican running for the position.
State Sen. Creigh Deeds of Bath County, former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe of McLean and former State Del. Brian Moran of Alexandria — all Democrats —stopped by the Raven’s Nest, 254 E. Davis. St., earlier this year to campaign.
McDonnell, 54, is scheduled to appear at 12:30 p.m., according to Gary Close, commonwealth’s attorney for Culpeper County.
This meeting is open to the public.
A longtime lawyer, McDonnell resigned as attorney general to pursue his full-time campaign for governor earlier this year.
He served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1992 until 2005.
In 2005, McDonnell won a slim victory over Deeds for attorney general by 360 votes.
The election for governor takes place on Nov. 3.
McDonnell, a Pennsylvania native, grew up in Fairfax.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s in law from Regent University. McDonnell also served 21 years in the United States Army.
He’s married to Maureen Gardner. They have five children.
