A Baltimore man faces a reckless driving charge following a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 29 in Leon early Monday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

Karl Erik Stager, 21, was in the northbound left lane around 7 a.m. when his 2007 Chevy HHR sport utility vehicle sideswiped a 2007 GMC pickup.

Trooper W.L. Lyle said Stager fell asleep at the wheel just before his vehicle struck the pickup, went sideways on the median and flipped three times near Leon’s Auto Parts. Stager’s vehicle landed on the southbound lane on U.S. 29.

The driver of the pickup was northbound in the right lane.

Stager was treated and released from Culpeper Regional Hospital Monday around 12:30 p.m.
