A 2003 Culpeper County High School graduate is one of 30 lovely ladies trying to win a hunk’s heart this season on national television.
Lauren Moore, a 26-year-old substitute teacher for Fauquier County Public Schools, will compete for Brad Womack’s love when “The Bachelor’s” 15th season starts Jan. 3 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
Reached by phone Wednesday, Moore held off on an interview because she can’t talk with the media until she’s no longer on the show. But a glimpse at “The Bachelor’s” website and a conversation with her mother provide a good bit of bio.
Tammy Moore said her daughter — who lives at the family home in Rixeyville — applied for the show on a whim. “It’s a long process,” said Tammy, a married mother of four. “There was a lot of interviewing.”
ABC lists Moore’s favorite date memory as watching a meteor shower in a lifeguard stand on a beach. She also said she likes it when her date tries hard to show his personality and that he enjoys her company.
On her bio page, Moore’s three favorite musicians are rapper Lil’ Wayne, country songstress Taylor Swift and jazzy pop band Dave Matthews. Her favorite author is Philippa Gregory, because, “She has great insight on the life of wives of Henry VIII, and I’m obsessed with that part of history.”
In addition to teaching, Moore works part-time with her father Edward’s housing development company in Warrenton, Brookside Communities. She also recently landed a job as an account executive at Incentives, a regional direct savings magazine.
Moore earned her bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology from James Madison University in May 2009.
For fun, she enjoys theater, music, fox hunting and horseback riding. She played alto sax in the band at CCHS. Her mom said Moore likes to teach sixth-graders and high school physical education classes.
Moore’s acting credits include playing an extra in the 2007 movie “Evan Almighty,” which was filmed in the Charlottesville and Crozet areas, and modeling for Rosetta Stone, a language-learning software.
Familiar face
As for “The Bachelor” plotline this season, if Womack seems familiar, he appeared as the main guy on Season 11 in 2007, when he infamously refused to chose either of the two finalists, drawing ire and much criticism from the show’s faithful female fans.
According to ABC, Womack claims to be a changed man following months of “intense therapy.”
“Brad is convinced he is a better person in many ways than he was in 2007,” ABC network executives wrote on the website. “Get ready to see a changed, revitalized man who is still optimistic and confident about finding love on ‘The Bachelor.’ He is more ready than ever to find a wife and start a family.”
Womack, 38, is a native of Austin, Texas, and lives in Atlanta.
