CRH, Germanna team up for weight loss

Culpeper Regional Health System and Germanna Community College invite the community to participate in the free Drop It! 2010 Healthy Living Challenge featuring three health-related events.

“Culpeper Regional Health System and Germanna Community College are invested in the health of this community, and we are committed to helping everyone, who chooses to do so, lead a healthier life,” said Sandy Boone, Powell Wellness Center director.

» Kick-off Health Fair is Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Germanna’s Daniel Technology Center. There will be more than 30 booths with free health screenings, registration forms, activities for children of all ages, healthy snacks and giveaways.

» 12-week Weight Loss and Healthy Living Challenge starts Jan. 25. This challenge is open to all ages 5 and up. Each Monday, there will be events at Germanna’s Dainel Center to help you learn healthy eating tips and exercise techniques that will keep you motivated to improve your health. Registration begins Monday. Forms must be completed by Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. and turned in to the Powell Wellness Center. Forms are also available at the PWC, 1005 Golf Drive. The first weigh-in is Jan. 23 at the Kick-Off Health Fair at Germanna’s Daniel Technology Center, 18121 Technology Drive in Culpeper.

» Community Speaker: Germanna will host a free seminar Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at Germanna’s Daniel Center featuring Dr. William R. Rowley. His theme will be “No More Weighting.” For more information call the event information hotline at 829-4754.
