Four people were taken to the hospital following a Tuesday evening wreck.

Dispatchers report that emergency workers were called to the scene at Madison Road and Sunset Lane at 5:56 p.m.

Police say a Pontiac sedan was northbound on Madison Road and a Honda Accord was turning south on Sunset Lane.

Authorities say the driver of the Honda, Michael Thompson Jr., 20, of Culpeper, disregarded the turn signal and the cars collided. Three people in Thompson’s car and the driver of the Pontiac were taken to the hospital, less than a quarter mile away from the crash scene.

Thompson was charged with failure to obey a traffic signal and failure to maintain insurance. Traffic in the area was blocked for about an hour as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
