Three Culpeper teens facing charges for a robbery at Yowell Meadow Park have now been charged with a string of similar crimes.
On Monday, the Culpeper Police Department announced additional robbery charges against Ronnie Settle, 18, of Meander Drive in connection with recent muggings on the access road into Culpeper Town Square, Aberdeen Drive and the 400 block of Bus. 29.
Settle was originally arrested June 11, two days after a 16-year-old male was robbed in the park. Police charged Settle as part of a bike-riding trio of teens who asked the victim for money; when he said he didn’t have any, two of the suspects grabbed him and took his wallet.
The other two boys facing charges in the park robbery, ages 16 and 17, are minors and have not been identified. They were also charged Saturday in the three other crimes.
One of those robberies occurred June 9 around 9:49 p.m,, less than an hour after the park incident. A 27-year-old man told police that three teens on bikes asked for money as he walked in the 100 block of Aberdeen Drive, located south of downtown off of Orange Road.
One of the teens punched the victim in the head, but nothing was taken. In that case, the victim told authorities the suspects were wearing all black and fled on bicycles.
Settle, arrested Saturday on the most recent charges, remains in jail, according to a town news release. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Culpeper General District Court Aug. 4 at 10 a.m.
The two teenaged minors charged in the robberies are being held in juvenile detention.
