Two Culpeper residents were airlifted to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg Monday night following a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 522 at Browning Road.

Driver Roxie Ann Perryman, 25, was traveling southbound in a 2002 BMW four-door sedan when the vehicle went off the right side of the two-lane highway and overturned, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler. The accident occurred around 9:20 p.m.

Neither Perryman nor passenger Larry Sanford Walker, 35, were wearing seatbelts, Tyler said.

Both were flown to Mary Washington; their conditions were unknown as of press time.

VSP Trooper C.R. Brennan investigated the accident and the investigation is ongoing, Tyler said. He said alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
