A white male subject in his late 20s to early 30s remains at-large after police say he ran into the woods along Eggbornsville Road following a vehicle stop and pursuit Thursday morning.
A Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over the man driving a green Honda Accord around 7:43 a.m. on Jamesons Mill Road, according to a CCSO press release. The deputy asked the motorist for his license and registration and returned to his patrol car to check the information the man had given, including his name and social security number.
At that point, the motorist left the scene in his Honda.
The deputy pursued the vehicle on Jamesons Mill Road, following behind as it turned right onto route 229 heading north. The driver turned right on Muddy Run Lane and got back on Jamesons Mill with the deputy in pursuit.
The suspect made a left back onto route 229, heading south toward the town of Culpeper. The vehicle then turned onto Eggbornsville Road with three deputies now in pursuit, evading spike strips placed in the road by a fourth deputy.
About 10 minutes after the incident started, the motorist in the Honda hit a ditch on the right shoulder about a half-mile down Eggbornsville Road, reportedly rolled out of the vehicle on the passenger side and took off into the woods.
K-9 units from the sheriff’s office and Town Police searched for the man until after 9 a.m.
Warrants are pending on the male suspect. The CCSO expects to make an arrest this morning, charging the suspect with felony eluding and driving on a suspended license.
