The 51-year-old Culpeper woman charged with two counts of embezzlement for reportedly stealing several thousands of dollars from the Culpeper Pharmacy in the Southgate Shopping Center where she worked pleaded guilty in Culpeper County Circuit Court on Jan. 24.

According to court records, Debra L. Bowen, of the 17000 block of Ryland Church Road, will serve two years of supervised probation for each charge; ordered to pay $815 in court costs and $3,000 in restitution.

The judge also sentenced Bowen to three years in prison for each offense, but decided to suspend all six years.

In June 2011, the pharmacy’s owners reported to Culpeper police that they suspected Bowen had reportedly stolen several thousands of dollars from the business.

One count charged Bowen with embezzling money from 2009 through 2011. The second charge was related to the alleged embezzlement of money from the sale of an electric scooter.

She was arrested on July 13, 2011.
