It might be unseasonably warm outside, but inside Pearl Sample Elementary School snowmen are thriving.
Every classroom at Pearl Sample had the opportunity to create a unique snowman during the school’s monthly spirit challenge. Students worked as a team to create these eclectic, artistic treasures.
Visitors were greeted by a Hawaiian snowman, a patriotic snowman, a Mardi Gras snowman and Mr. Green, the recycling snowman.
The snowmen were judged by a member of the Culpeper County Public School’s Central Office.
Winners were: Preschool – Ms. Burke; Kindergarten – Mrs. Maloy; First grade – Mrs. Settle; Second grade – Mrs. Martin; Third grade – Mrs. Gahagen; Fourth grade – Miss Achille; and Fifth grade – Mrs. Franklin.
The winning homeroom at each grade level wins the right to display a spirit banner in front of their classroom. The competition encourages students to be involved in showing their talents and spirit in giving to their school and community. Previous challenges included a food drive for the Culpeper Food Closet where students brought over 1,700 food items to support their community.
Students currently are involved in a “penny war” to raise funds for a new curtain for Pearl Sample’s Stage.
