Town police are seeking help in identifying two men that allegedly assaulted an 86-year-old Culpeper man during an Oct. 21 home invasion.
“We have aggressively followed up on leads provided by the public since the assault, but we need the public’s help for this ongoing investigation,” said Lt. Lee Rees.
Detective Richard Brooking said the man answered the door at his home in the 400 block of Macoy Avenue about 9 p.m. Oct. 21. The men at the door allegedly assaulted the homeowner and forced their way into the home. The men then allegedly rummaged through the home.
The victim was transported to Culpeper Regional Hospital and later transferred to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he was hospitalized before being sent to a rehabilitation center. Since the attack, the elderly man has been admitted to the hospital several times and undergone rehabilitation as a result of the vicious attack.
One of the two men is described as a white male, in his 20s, about 5-feet-9-inches or 10-inches tall. The second man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
