The Culpeper Police Department has been unable to identify a woman who allegedly used a stolen Wal-Mart gift card on Dec. 29, 2011 and needs the public’s help.

According to police, a man lost his wallet in the restroom of a local movie theater on Dec. 28. The next day the man returned to the theater to see if anyone had found the wallet. The man’s wallet had been found in the restroom, but when it was returned cash and two Wal-Mart gift cards were missing.

The victim gave Det. Luke Altman a receipt for one of the gift cards.

The detective traced it to the Culpeper Wal-Mart and a female person of interest that police would like to identify. The card was allegedly used about 11:30 a.m., Dec. 29. So far, efforts to identify the woman shown on video surveillance have failed.

Anyone with information that leads to the identity of the woman may call Crime Solvers at 540-727-0300, where callers never have to give their name or testify in court to earn a cash reward. Detective Altman may be reached at 540-829-5507.
