»  Comments | Post a Comment

Students from Culpeper enrolled in Virginia colleges and universities for criminal justice studies can now apply for two statewide, academic scholarships.

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute is awarding a $500 scholarship to a full-time student and a $250 scholarship to a part-time student.

The scholarship program was established to provide opportunities for youth in Virginia to pursue an educational curriculum in law enforcement or criminal justice. The scholarships are available only to students in jurisdictions where sheriffs participate in scholarship fundraising efforts.

As part of the application students will need a letter of recommendation from Sheriff Scott Jenkins. Interested students will need to file applications directly with the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office by April 9, 2012. The sheriff will review applications, attach letters of recommendation and mail the applications to the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute.

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or any other legally protected class.

An application is available on the CCSO website, http://www.culpepersheriffsoffice.com, and at the administrative office located at 132 West Davis Street in Culpeper. Completed applications should be mailed to Sheriff Scott Jenkins, c/o Sabra Hash: 132 West Davis Street, Culpeper, Va. 22701.
