Two players essential to the Blue Devils’ second straight Region-I, Division 3 tournament run have been named first team All-Battlefield by the district’s coaches.

Henry Butler and Devonte Deans — Culpeper County High School’s top two scorers — earned the honor after leading the Blue Devils to a 12-2 record in district play, the No. 2 seed in the Battlefield tournament and a No. 3 seed in the Region-I playoffs.

Butler, a sophomore, earned the fourth most votes — finishing with 66 points. He appeared in every game this season, averaging 12.7 points a game and leading Culpeper (17-8 overall) in steals, averaging about four per game.

Deans rebounded after a being slowed early this season by a suspension. Despite missing the first two district games of the season, the senior finished the regular season averaging a double-double — 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Junior Nik Stewart was the Blue Devil’s only second-team pick. He averaged about 13 points a game, and finished the season as one of the district’s leading 3-point shooters.

Eastern View High School’s top scorer, P.J. White, was this season’s top second team all-district pick, finishing with 51 points after the voting.

The junior finished his second season with the Cyclones (7-16 overall, 5-9 Battlefield) averaging 12.5 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks a game.

Eastern View senior Ben Safren earned an honorable-mention pick after averaging 10.5 points a game, while Culpeper sophomore JP Gorby was also named honorable mention after averaging 9.7 points a game.
