Devils top Chargers in double OT
FREDERICKSBURG — Anthony Banks hit a pair of late free throws to tie Tuesday’s game at Chancellor and Henry Butler hit one with five seconds left in double overtime and the Culpeper County High School boys basketball team topped home standing Chancellor, 81-80.
Sophomore JP Gorby led the Blue Devils (9-7 overall, 6-2 Battlefield) with 23 points.
Devonte Deans finished with 19 points, Butler added 13, Nik Stewart added 10 and Banks chipped in with nine.
The victory puts Culpeper in a tie with Chancellor for second place in the Battlefield District behind James Monroe, according to CCHS head coach James Thompson.
Culpeper travels to King George on Friday.

Jackson scores 20 as Cyclones cruise
KING GEORGE — Eastern View High School’s girls basketball team hit the road Tuesday to face King George, and the Cyclones came away with a 50-30 victory.
Ciara Jackson led the way with 20 points. Taylor Shanks added 13 points, while Tiara Jackson and Allison Corry both finished with four.
The Cyclones (11-4, 6-2 Battlefield) travel to Courtland on Friday.

Colbert leads Eagles past rival Falcons
BEALETON — Liberty High School’s boys basketball team welcomed its cross-county rival Fauquier to Bealeton on Tuesday, and the Eagles held on to top the visiting Falcons, 64-62.
Xavier Colbert led the Eagles with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Rashawn Latimer added 14 points, while Ryan Ramirez chipped in with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Liberty (11-5, 4-1 Evergreen) returns to action Friday, as the Eagles host Evergreen District foe Brentsville.
